چکیده

We discuss the determination of polarized parton distributions from charged– current deep–inelastic scattering experiments. We summarize the next-to-leading order treatment of charged–current polarized structure functions, their relation to polarized parton distributions and scale dependence, and discuss their description by means of a next-to-leading order evolution code. We discuss current theoretical expectations and positivity constraints on the unmeasured C–odd combinations ∆q − ∆q̄ of polarized quark distributions, and their determination in charged– current deep–inelastic scattering experiments. We give estimates of the expected errors on charged–current structure functions at a future neutrino factory, and perform a study of the accuracy in the determination of polarized parton distributions that would be possible at such a facility. We show that these measurements have the potential to distinguish between different theoretical scenarios for the proton spin structure. Nuclear PDFs from neutrino deep inelastic scattering

We study nuclear effects in charged current deep inelastic neutrino–iron scattering in the framework of a χ-analysis of parton distribution functions. We extract a set of iron PDFs and show that under reasonable assumptions it is possible to constrain the valence, light sea and strange quark distributions. We compare our results with nuclear parton distribution functions from the literature and...

Towards a Realistic MSSM Prediction for Neutrino-nucleon Deep-inelastic Scattering

We discuss the radiative corrections to charged and neutral current deep-inelastic neutrino–nucleon scattering in the minimal supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). In particular, we study deviations, δRν(ν̄), from the Standard Model prediction for the ratios of neutralto charged-current cross sections, taking into account all sources for deviations in the MSSM, i.e. different contributions from ...

Parametrization of polarized parton distribution functions

Polarized parton distribution functions are determined by using asymmetry A 1 data from longitudinally polarized deep inelastic scattering experiments. From our χ 2 analysis, polarized u-valence, d-valence, antiquark, and gluon distributions are obtained. We propose one set of leading-order distributions and two sets of next-to-leading-order ones as the longitudinally-polarized parton distribut...

Determination of the proton parton density functions at HERA

Recent experimental progress on the determination of the parton distribution functions in the proton from the H1 and ZEUS Collaborations at HERA is reported. New QCD fits yielding improved determinations of the parton distribution functions in the proton are described. On one hand, precise measurements of neutral-current deep inelastic scattering at low Q2 have allowed an improved determination...

Hadron Physics at a Neutrino Factory

We review the way intense neutrino beams at the front–end of a muon storage ring can be used to probe the structure of hadrons. Specifically, we discuss how the polarized and unpolarized flavor structure of the nucleon can be disentangled in inclusive deep-inelastic scattering, and how less inclusive measurements can shed light on various aspects of hadron structure such as fragmentation functi...
